Coronation Street fans 'work out what's wrong with DS Swain' but it's not linked to Joel

Coronation Street's DS Swain was seen in pain and seemingly injured on Monday night sparking concern with ITV soap viewers, and now some fans think they know what's happened

Coronation Street viewers think they know what's wrong with DS Swain after a mystery scene on Monday night.

Detective Lisa was seen in pain and wincing, dramatically clutching her side. While nothing explained the mystery scenes with no clue of what had happened to her, it was clear she was in discomfort.

Amid Joel Deering going missing and being presumed dead, viewers wondered if she'd had a showdown with the villain. But now viewers are convinced they have worked out the truth, and it isn't Joel who has seemingly harmed Swain.

According to fans, another character may have hurt Swain leading to her apparent injuries. Something has clearly happened which she is covering up, and viewers are worried it's linked to her troubled teenaged daughter Betsy Swain.

Fans believe the pair have had another row and that in a worrying twist, Betsy may have turned violent. A theory suggests Betsy may have accidentally or intentionally lashed out at her mum, resulting in her injuries.

Taking to social media, one fan said: "So I'm going with Swain has had an altercation with Betsy. Maybe the anniversary of Becky's death is coming up & instead of Lisa listening to Betsy she is distracted by her work phone.

"Betsy snatches it & throws it, then pushes Lisa who falls & hurts herself." Another viewer agreed: "I think Betsy did something," as a third fan wrote online: "Yeah maybe, but I can't see Betsy hitting/pushing her Mum."

A further theory read: "Who thinks it’s Betsy who is taking her anger out on her or it’s something serious like cancer and Carla is going to be there for her." This was backed by another comment that read: "I don't think Swain would kill Joel. I am going down a different path and saying Betsy as hurt her."

As for the Joel theory, someone said: "Swain’s wincing and gagging is a red herring to make viewers think she’s done away with Joel. I will not believe our Queen of Justice has don’t anything to him until I have it in black and white, your honour."

It comes ahead of a huge new storyline for Swain and pal Carla Connor, with it teased a romance is on the cards. After months of viewers speculating that the pair would get together, new spoilers have revealed a moment between the two Weatherfield characters leaves Carla confused about her feelings.
