Manchester United kick-off their Europa League campaign on Wednesday evening as they welcome FC Twente to Old Trafford.

In what promises to be a relatively tough tie for Erik ten Hag - a boyhood fan of the Dutch outfit - the Red Devils will look to build on a lacklustre Premier League start having taken just seven points from a possible fifteen.

United are one of the favourites to clinch the new-look competition, which sees teams play an extended eight games instead of six and be combined into a 36-team league instead of groups.

Ahead of the fixture, Mirror Football brings you everything you need to know as Ten Hag and his men get their European journey underway.

What time does the match kick-off?

The typical 5:45pm and 8:00pm kick-off times return to the Europa League despite the array format changes, with this specific game week having two early kick-off clashes. United will play during a later slot, though, with action at Old Trafford set to get rolling at 8:00pm (BST).

Where can I watch Man Utd vs Twente?

TNT Sports hold the rights to broadcast European football, including the Europa League and, the Champions League and the Conference League.

If watching on TV, those wishing to tune in and watch United’s opening tie can do so on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate. TNT Sports can be accessed through BT, EE, Sky, and Virgin Media.

For fans wishing to stream the European affair on Wednesday evening, subscribers can watch the match via live-stream by way of the Discovery + app.

Why is this Europa League match on a Wednesday?

Fans of the European competition will be used to the age-old format of Tuesdays and Wednesdays being earmarked for Champions League action, but this has all changed with UEFA's revised format.

The governing body has given each of their three competitions, which now feature that aforementioned extended schedule, a singular game week in which only one of the three will be played.

Arsenal's clash with Atalanta, which surprisingly took place on a Thursday, was part of the Champions League's 'exclusive gameweek.' This time around, the Europa League will see its fixtures spread out across the week, uninterrupted by other competitions - hence Ten Hag's men lacing up on a Wednesday.
