Tyson Fury hit out at "silly c***" Anthony Joshua after his rival was knocked out by Daniel Dubois.

Fury was ringside at Wembley to watch Joshua attempt to become a three-time heavyweight world champion on Saturday night - but his fellow Brit was dropped three times before being stopped in the fifth round. And the result means Fury's hopes of fighting Joshua for the undisputed crown next year have been extinguished.

Fury must first take on Oleksandr Usyk in their Christmas rematch but had hoped victory would finally set up a double-header with Joshua in Saudi Arabia in London in 2025. But the former world champion was caught on camera admitting the fight no longer holds the same appeal. "Listen, that's cost me £150million, the silly c***," said Fury. "Of course it has; he's f***ed. Turki, you better pay me now."

Fury was referring to boxing's new ringmaster Turki Alalshikh who has made no secret of his desire to pit Fury against Joshua. But the fight may be resurrected, if Fury loses his sequel with Usyk. Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn said: "I don’t see it being a fight that ends his [Joshua’s] career,’ said Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn. "But as I said, he’s in the final chapter or chapters of the career.

"That was a big blow because we fancied winning tonight and fighting the winner of Fury against Usyk. We may end up fighting the loser of that fight, maybe if it’s Tyson Fury. You’ve got the Dubois rematch, you’ve got other fights out there. I think it’s really about returning to the gym and having time off and seeing how you come back with [trainer] Ben [Davison]. A lot depends on how you are performing in the gym."

Joshua insisted he will not retire despite being dominated from the opening bell. He had rebuilt his career following his back-to-back defeats by Usyk; beating Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou. But he struggled to deal with Dubois' power and was dropped in rounds one, three and four before a final trip to the canvas in the fifth session.

Hearn said Joshua has the option of pursuing a rematch but Dubois could instead favour a rematch with Usyk if the Ukrainian beats Fury for a second time. Dubois was stopped by Usyk last year in his first world title fight and is confident he could avenge one of his two career defeats.

His promoter Frank Warrens said: "We’ll see what happens on December 21 in Riyadh and see the outcome of that fight. Tyson I believe will win it, but the fight I would love... I’d love to see Daniel lace them up against Usyk again because I believe that he should have won that fight."
