Strictly star Shayne Ward's love life with famous fiancée as they make soap comeback

Strictly Come Dancing 2024 star Shayne Ward and his famous actress fiancée are making their return to soap screens this week

Shayne Ward makes his soap comeback this week - and he’ll be joined by his famous fiancée.

The singer - who is appearing on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing - shot to fame in the 2000s after winning The X Factor. Since then, he’s kept himself busy, playing Aidan Connor for three years on Coronation Street before leaving in 2018.

Away from the showbiz world, Shayne is loved-up with soap star Sophie Austin - who played Lindsey Butterfield in Hollyoaks. The pair have been together since 2016 and share two children.

Daughter Willow May was born in December 2016 and in 2022, Shayne and Sophie, who got engaged in 2017, welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Reign Thomas.

In 2018, Sophie revealed Shayne's rather unconventional proposal. She told OK Magazine!: ‘I had told Shayne that if he was ever going to propose I would love my family to be there.

“We were stood in the hallway - I was wearing pyjamas and my hair was tied up with a pair of knickers,” she added.

Sophie continued: “Once the music [Barbra Streisand’s I’ve Dreamed of You] Shayne came over and asked if he could have a dance with me. I suddenly thought oh crap, he is going to ask me in front of everybody.

“I know it sounds weird as I’m an actor but I don’t like being the centre of attention. But it was the perfect ending to our lovely Christmas.”

Shayne and Sophie are no strangers to sharing updates on their family life with fans on social media. In September, the pair celebrated their ninth anniversary with Shayne penning a gushing tribute to his wife-to-be on Instagram.

Shayne wrote: "Another year has gone by…. And I love you more each and every second. I feel very blessed to have you by my side. Let’s keep holding hands. Let’s keep walking in each other's footsteps.

“Let’s keep finding new adventures. Let’s keep singing. Let’s taste the world's greatest foods (That’ll be fajitas for me) Let's dance like no one is watching, But certain eyes always are. Our heaven-sent angels Willow May and reign."

And this week, both Shayne and Sophie will be appearing in the BBC soap Doctors together. The pair appear in an episode called ‘Shock Therapy’ due to air on Thursday, October 3.

Shane’s character is called Kenny Webb, and his real-life fiancée Sophie plays his partner Austin. As per What To Watch, the pair will be in the hospital for their daughter Lucy, though tensions will rise after Sandra doesn’t let Kenny see their child, citing his anger issues as the reason.

The episode will show Kenny attempting to control his emotions. The character also interacts with his mother-in-law Melissa (Catherine Shipton) and Doctors regular Zara Carmichael (Elisabeth Dermot Walsh).
