Strictly contestant Tasha Ghouri found fame from Love Island, but before her time in the villa, she was dating another very famous TV star.

Tasha made Love Island history as the first deaf contestant and was applauded for being open about the reality of wearing cochlear implants for her hearing. She left the villa with Andrew Le Page, and the pair are still firmly in item despite having a rocky journey. But before Tasha entered the villa, she had been dating another reality TV star.

Tasha's former flame is Robert Van Tromp, a YouTuber who also featured on Netflix's steamy dating show Too Hot To Handle. Although he found a partner on the show, Tasha is said to be the "one that got away".

The model and former Love Island beauty has wowed fans with her Strictly routines and ultra-glamorous appearances, and cheering her on in the crowd is her reality star boyfriend. As Andrew shared his adoration for his girlfriend in the crowd, Tasha gushed: "He's just so supportive in everything I do and he knows how much this really means to me. That's my future husband right there. He's so amazing and I love him to pieces."

As Tasha continues to dazzle on the Strictly dancefloor, The Mirror takes a look at her former flings.

Famous ex-boyfriend

Before Andrew, Tasha was dating Robert Van Tromp. The pair were together for five months, and split just three months before Tasha jetted off to the famous villa. This was a sting for Robert, who sources claim was hoping to rekindle things with Tasha.

"Robert is gutted after seeing Tasha on Love Island," a source told the MailOnline at the time. "She ticks all his boxes and he had hoped to reconnect with her after regretting their breakup. Tasha is the one that got away and he believes he let a gem go, watching her on the show this summer won't be easy for him."

Robert appeared on the second series of the popular Netflix dating show Too Hot To Handle, which aired in June 2021, where he had previously dated Christina Carmela who he met on the show. Robert and Christina broke up due to it getting "uncomfortable" after the show had finished. In regards to his breakup with the Love Island beauty, he told the Access All Areas podcast: "I wouldn't say it's civil. I think the break-up was civil but we certainly have different interests and priorities in life. I think that has potentially hindered any kind of friendship moving forward."

Love Island success

After her breakup with Robert, just three months later Tasha entered the 2022 season of the Love Island villa as an OG and became the show's first deaf contestant. She said her deafness was her "superpower" and quickly became a firm fan favourite on the show. She quickly coupled up with Andrew Le Page, and even though they had a tumultuous journey on the show, the pair made it all the way to the final and are still in a relationship to this day.

Tasha hinted at the idea of a wedding after being teased by Fleur East during a chat. In response to Andrew's support for his girlfriend, Fleur beamed: "They're getting married" while Aljaz added: "I want to be there." Tasha joked: "Strictly wedding, let's go," as reported by the Express.

Tasha and Andrew sealed their love for each other with matching rose tattoos, and the pair have also become homeowners with their swanky new home. Sharing the news on Instagram, the couple wrote: "From the love island villa to homeowners. We're so excited that we'll be doing a full house renovation and making magic!

While other celebrities have found the show's demands challenging for their relationships with the so-called 'Strictly curse', Tasha is unphased as she said Andrew is the "hottest man on this whole planet". In an interview with The Sun, she said: "Andrew, to me, is the hottest man on this whole planet. I look at him and I'm like: 'Yeah, that's my man'. Me and Andrew trust each other 100 per cent."

Tasha is confident their relationship will sail through the Strictly experience and added: "It's not a make-or-break for us. We're going to breeze through this because we're going to marry each other one day, you know," and any concerns about the curse are non-existent for the couple. "It doesn't bother us at all. We didn't have a discussion about 'the Strictly curse' because we trust each other," she explained.

Since her time on Love Island, Tasha has managed to help raise awareness for the deaf community. She launched the podcast 'Superpowers with Tasha' where she celebrates "empowering people and their superpowers". She also released her debut novel Hits Different, which is a story about a partially deaf young girl who dreams of becoming a dancer, all while looking for love.

This echoes Tasha's real life, as before her Love Island appearance, Tasha was a professional dancer. She appeared in pop star MNEK and Sleepwlkers' More Than Words music video where she showed off her moves in the 2020 video. It was a special moment for Tasha as the song was a celebration of the deaf community and every dancer featured in the video was deaf and hard of hearing.

Tasha is the second deaf celebrity to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, following on from the success of Rose Ayling-Ellis and her 2021 win. She told The Sun: "I think Rose is such an amazing role mode. I love Strictly as well because I'm a dancer. It's amazing to see what she did, so beautiful and sent a powerful message and she's also representing me as well as the deaf community as well."

Tasha, who was born deaf and received a cochlear implant at the age of five, aims to be an inspiration for young girls facing similar challenges. She revealed: "I'm doing 'Strictly' because it's been my biggest dream. It's genuinely been a goal for years, even more than Love Island."
