Ellie Goulding's estranged husband looks almost unrecognisable months after split

The estranged husband of a huge pop star looked almost unrecognisable in a new photo shared months after the couple announced their split.

Ellie Goulding's ex Jaspar Jopling, who married the singer in 2019, has just competed in his first Ironman - a triathlon race which consists of biking, swimming and running - in Spain. Today, the 32-year-old shared a photo of himself during the run, writing on Instagram: "First ironman, last ironman (probably) .. this was 9 hours into my 11hr 20 finish time .. regrettably ill prepared but who doesn't enjoy pushing their limits sometimes."

Many people praised him for taking part in the major sports event, as one commented on the post: "Huge congrats. You deserve every bit of it." Another added: "Amazing job my man!" One more person wrote: "Very impressive."

Caspar, who is an art dealer, grew up in the North of England but attended school at Eton before heading off to Harvard University where he studied History of Art and Architecture, and Film Studies. While studying for his first degree, Caspar joined the rowing team and competed in international competitions for Team GB's in the 2010 Youth Olympics. He is friends with Prince Andrew's second daughter, Princess Eugenie.

In February, Caspar and Ellie, 37, confirmed their marriage was over after four years. he now former couple welcomed a son named Arthur two years later - with the bundle of joy being born on April 29, 2021. Taking to social media, the duo shared their news in statements that Ellie uploaded to her Instagram Stories.

Sharing a statement penned by Caspar himself, Ellie uploaded the wording which reads: "Hi people - hope you're having a good day. I feel (sadly) that I need to say something on mine and Ellie's current relationship.. that I hope more than anything will make any final tabloid speculation disappear. Ellie and I made the decision to separate some time ago.

"Our immediate family and close friends have known for some time - otherwise we chose to do what we could to keep this private. Ellie and I remain the closest of friends and, most importantly, 'co-parents' to the best kiddo in the world, Arthur. This is the last I want to say on this - and please ask that you respect mine and Ellie's privacy. Thanks a lot. Caspar."

Ellie then added a statement of her own. She wrote: "In light of recent stories, I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago. We remain the closest of friend and have been successfully co-parenting with our son's best interest at heart.

"We are committed to protecting our family privacy and thank people in advance for respecting our wishes - we won’t be commenting further. Thank you." She signed off with a kiss and a red heart emoji.
