Sarah, Duchess of York has shared an emotional tribute to Dame Maggie Smith while thanking the actress from the 'bottom of her heart' for her entertaining work

Sarah, Duchess of York has thanked Dame Maggie Smith for "giving us so much pleasure".

It comes after the legendary actress sadly died on Friday, September 27, aged 89 while in hospital. Her two sons said they were "devastated" while announcing Dame Maggie's death. The Duchess, 64, shared two tributes with her online followers – one on her Instagram Stories and a second on her X, formerly known as Twitter page.

The royal wrote on X: "Our National Treasure Dame Maggie Smith.. we will miss you, and luckily we can continue to immerse ourselves into all your brilliance. Thank you for giving us so much pleasure. To your family I send my deepest condolences for the loss of Dame Maggie."
