BBC Strictly Come Dancing Live updates: Paul Merson given bad news before live show

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One tonight after a chaotic week for the show

by · The Mirror

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One tonight following a week of controversy surrounding two of its stars.

Katya Jones and Wynne Evans were forced to explain themselves after raising concerns with their on-air antics. In one moment Katya was seen moving Wynne's hand away as he appeared to cuddle her waist. Then later in the episode, Katya was seen snubbing a high-five from her dance partner, suggesting something was very off between them.

After the uncomfortable scenes began to viral on social media, Katya and Wynne quickly shot down any insinuation there was tension between them. The pair explained it was all a 'bad joke gone wrong.' Opera star Wynne later said he was 'heartbroken' by accusations he'd upset Katya.

Despite the drama, the pair managed to survive another week - though the bookies had slashed the odds that Wynne would drop out before the next live show.

It was Nick Knowles who ended up being given his marching orders after losing out on a shock dance-off with Shayne Ward.

With the scores reset, it's all to dance for this evening. Here's everything you need to know:

Paul Merson is favourite to go this week

According to Ladbrokes, Paul Merson is in danger of getting the boot from Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.

Punters have been queuing up to back Merson to get the axe and he is now the clear favourite to leave the show next at 11/10.

Others at risk include Punam Krishan at 5/2, while Wynne Evans also attracted a flood of bets for the boot earlier in the week at 5/1.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: "There are three celebrities under pressure on Strictly this week, but as far as punters are concerned, Paul Merson's time is up."

Who left the show last week?

DIY SOS star Nick Knowles and his partner Luba Mushtuk left Strictly last week.

The pair were eliminated following a dance off against Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu during the third Results Show of the series.

Both couples performed their routines again as they were in the bottom two; Shayne and Nancy performed their Cha Cha to Ain't No Love (Ain't No Use) by Sub Sub feat. Melanie Williams.

Then, Nick and Luba performed their Charleston to Rain on the Roof from the film Paddington 2.

With three votes in favour of Shayne and Nancy, they won the majority vote meaning that Nick and Luba would be leaving the competition.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas also agreed and said she would have decided to save Shayne and Nancy.
