'I'm sleeping with my best friend's mum - I feel like I'm betraying him but I can't stop'
A man has confessed he has been sleeping with his friend's mum for three years, and despite his friend not minding, he knows he's betraying their friendship
by Niamh Kirk · The MirrorWhile he knows it's wrong, one man simply can't stop sleeping with his friend's mum - and they were even caught in the shower together.
With a 15-year-age gap, the man met his lover when he was 26 and she was 42, and have been sleeping together for the past three years. The man confessed he met his friend Brian at work, and after going to a party at his house, ended up spending the night with Brian's mum Emma.
Despite knowing he's betraying his pal, he said Emma always makes 'suggestive' comments whenever he goes over and it's "hard to say no" to her.
After Brian's father, Emma's husband, died three years ago, the mum went into a "depressive state" before heading back out into the dating world. At the same time, the man also broke up with his long-term girlfriend.
"Ever since Emma found out, I noticed she would say some very suggestive things whenever I was around. Brian also still lives at home with her," the man confessed in an anonymous Reddit post titled @r/TrueOffMyChest. He explained that their relationship started after a small party at Brian's house, and everyone, even Emma, had been drinking.
"I ended up crashing in the guest bedroom. I hadn't really fallen asleep yet when I saw the bedroom door open, and Emma got into bed with me," he added and said she initiated sleeping with him after telling him she "couldn't get pregnant" anymore.
"After I was done, she got up and left. The next day was pretty awkward, but eventually, we talked, and she said it's been lonely, and she's craved physical attention. She said she feels like she trusts and feels safe enough with me for casual sex," the post further detailed.
He said they had continued to hook up, but Brian caught them in the shower. "He told me as long as y'all are both happy with what you're doing, he wasn't gonna have an issue with it. I know this isn't healthy, and I know it's like a betrayal to my friend, but his mum is happy. Also, she is very open to a lot of new experiences for both me and her, and it's hard to say no," the post concluded.
The jaw-dropping revelation left many Reddit users shocked, as people flocked to the comments to share their thoughts. One user penned: "Just because he didn't tell you to stop doesn't mean he's good with it. I'm sure he's thinking you are both adults but give me a break. Out of all the women around you had to choose his mom!"
While another suggested: "If I were you, I'd hang out with her away from her place. Since he still lives at home, as a courtesy to him, hang out at your place and give him his own personal space. Just so he doesn't get annoyed with you always hanging around and him not being able to chill at home."
