A baby has tragically died after a boat attempting to cross the English Channel capsized, according to French authorities.

The overloaded boat carrying migrants, which was headed towards the UK, began sinking off the coast of Wissant in northern France, officials said. Authorities said 65 people were rescued after France deployed four ships and a helicopter.
