Man Utd news: Erik ten Hag sends message to Jose Mourinho as Glazer family's new venture emerges

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will lock horns with Jose Mourinho on Thursday night as the Red Devils go in search of their first win in Europe this term

by · The Mirror

Erik ten Hag will be looking for his Manchester United team to follow up their win over Brentford at the weekend with a result against Jose Mourinho 's Fenerbahce.

The Red Devils are winless after their opening two Europa League games against FC Twente and FC Porto. And things won't get any easier when they walk out in Turkey to lock horns with their former boss.

Ten Hag 's side then have another big Premier League fixture ahead this weekend as United travel to West Ham on Sunday. They are currently 12th in the table and the onus is on them to start climbing the league sooner rather than later.

Ten Hag's message to Mourinho

Erik ten Hag refused to become embroiled in a war of words with Jose Mourinho on the eve of Manchester United's crucial meeting with Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

Mourinho, who won the same tournament during his time at United, stuck the boot in ahead of the match by outlining that nobody had come close to emulating his triumph in Europe since he was sacked by the Red Devils back in 2018.

Rather than biting back, Ten Hag admitted there was work to be done to improve United's record in Europe under him, with the Dutchman overseeing just one win from their last 10 European games.

The Glazer family are among the prospective bidders looking to acquire one of the eight franchises in the Hundred.

Chelsea director Jonathan Goldstein is also one of the high-profile names who has registered interest via The Raine Group, as reported by The Telegraph.

The first round of bidding closed on Friday and it's been reported that offers worth £650million have been tabled for the franchises.

Southgate tipped for Palace job

Crystal Palace could target Gareth Southgate if they decide to sack Oliver Glasner( Image: Getty Images)

Gareth Southgate could reportedly be considered for the manager's job at Crystal Palace - if the Eagles decided to part company with Oliver Glasner.

Palace have endured a shocking start to the season and the scrutiny on Glasner, who made a huge impact last term, has grown in recent weeks. And the noise over his future has intensified following another defeat against Nottingham Forest on Monday night.

Southgate recently outlined that he would be taking a year out of football. But that hasn't prevented speculation over his own future with The Guardian claiming the former England boss could soon be targeted by one of his former clubs.
