Two trains smash into each other in Wales sparking major police and ambulance alert

Two trains collided at low speed near Llanbrynmair in Powys, Wales, this evening. All services between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth have been cancelled due to the incident

Two trains have collided this evening in Wales, sparking major travel delays.

The incident has taken place in the Talerddig area of Powys and because of it, all services between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth had to be cancelled, Transport for Wales said. Emergency services including paramedics, firefighters and police rushed to the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line near Llanbrynmair at 7.29pm today (21 October) to reports of a low-speed train collision involving two trains. Paramedics, fire and rescue, and Dyfed Powys Police are all in attendance and the incident is ongoing."
