After stepping away from her acting roots back in 2018 to marry Prince Harry, many people could easily presume that Meghan Markle would have washed her hands of her former life as she moved onto bigger and better things. Yet even despite her jam packed schedule of charity engagements, business launches, and Netflix projects, the Duchess of Sussex still found the time to reach out to her former Suits co-star with a message of support - five years after the show officially ended.

The unexpected turn of events was revealed by her former co-star Patrick J Adams, who confessed he was surprised by the sweet message he had received from Meghan after launching his Suits rewatch podcast.

Sharing the news via Reddit, Patrick said: “We are not really in touch. She leads a very different life now for obvious and important reasons. [But] upon hearing about the [Suits rewatch] podcast, I got a lovely text, saying how excited she was for us and asking how she could help in anyway [sic].”

The message, while unexpected, also struck a chord with the actor, as he noted that it’s “so lovely to still have that kind of support and friendship after so many years apart.”

Patrick launched Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast with former co-star Sarah Rafferty on September 24, with many fans eagerly tuning in for a dose of nostalgia as the popular stars revisited the beloved show which has seen a huge boom in viewers since arriving on streaming services in recent years. Duchess Meghan, 43, played Rachel Zane, a paralegal and love interest of Adams’ character Mike Ross, on the USA Network legal drama from 2011 to 2018 - before both stars parted ways one year before the show concluded in 2019.

In the same Q&A session on Reddit, Adams reflected on his life and career post Suits, but also shared fond memories of working on the series.

He said: “I care deeply about this job [and] this part and [worked] long and hard to make the best version of it. So, to hear that it’s connected with so many people is a big reason why I wanted to go back and watch it all. I wanna honour the show in a different way than I did when I was shooting it, if that makes sense.”

While the podcast is still in its early days, Patrick is in good company, as he follows in the footsteps of former co-star Meghan who herself has experience of hosting a successful podcast series.

The Duchess hosted her Spotify original series Archetypes in 2022 for one series with the audio streaming giant, before it was sadly axed. However, it has since been picked up by Lemonada Media and is set to return in the not too distant future.
