The company said pay rates for the roles across its UK network of centres and delivery stations will start at a minimum of £13.50 an hour, rising to £14.50 depending on location

Online giant Amazon has unveiled plans to recruit over 15,000 staff members to tackle the client surge in the upcoming holiday season.

These roles will be spread across its expansive UK enterprise of depots and distribution hubs. The company further highlighted that wages are set to begin at no less than £13.50 per hour and may increase to £14.50, based on location parameters.

Operations chief Anil Verma commented: "We prepare year-round for the festive season, and we’re excited to have more than 15,000 positions available this year in the UK. Our seasonal colleagues play an integral role in helping us deliver an exceptional experience for our customers.

"We look forward to welcoming back seasonal workers who return year after year to Amazon, and to welcoming new faces to the team."

In addition, Amazon proclaimed the commencement of operations at its new fulfilment centre in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, generating career opportunities that range from engineering to human resources and IT experts, covering health & safety and finance specialists, along with those in charge of fulfilling, packing, and dispatching shopper orders.

Regional head Prashant Pandey remarked: "This is the eighth fulfilment centre in the East Midlands region – a further sign of our commitment to the communities in which we operate."
