Sean 'Diddy' Combs' time in prison looks very bleak, according to comedian, Eddie Griffin.

The rapper, 54, is currently being housed in pretrial detention in the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and will stay there until he faces trial on racketeering and sex trafficking charges, which he denies.

Conditions at the MDC have been described as 'hell on earth', with felon Uriel Whyte stabbed to death there while awaiting trial on gun charges earlier this year. However, the Federal Bureau of Prisons told the Mirror it "takes seriously our duty to protect all individuals entrusted in our custody".

Speaking out on Diddy's arrest and charges, comic Griffin has warned the rapper he will likely not survive his time in the infamous jail. Taking to his YouTube channel on Monday, he likened Diddy's situation to that of Jeffrey Epstein - the disgraced American financier, who died while jailed and awaiting a federal sex trafficking trial in 2021.

Claiming there was a "contest in the penitentiary" for Diddy's life, Griffin said: "I wonder who going to get the money, there's got to be a $100million hit on this, there's a contest in the penitentiary right now. He a dead man, that's for damn sure."

The comedian added: "Your ego got out of whack because you was controlling everything at them freak parties... now you've chopped both your feet and your hands off and your head's coming next."

Diddy is being housed for pretrial detention at the MDC in New York after being denied bail following his sex trafficking charges. The rapper, real name Sean Combs, pleaded not guilty to racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges last week, with his lawyers offering $50million (£38m) for bail and in-home detention. However, Judge Tarnofsky ordered that the Tell Me star be 'detained' in a jail, described as 'hell on earth'.

The MDC holds around 1,600 inmates, all but a few dozen awaiting trial. It has been New York City's primary federal detention centre since 2021, when the Bureau of Prisons closed Manhattan's Metropolitan Correctional Center-where disgraced financier, Epstein, died-over the appalling conditions inside.

Straddling the East River, the MDC in Brooklyn, which previously housed fellow disgraced rapper, R.Kelly - has similarly been plagued by reports of constant lockdowns, outbreaks of violence and a rash of stabbings.

Combs' lawyers acknowledged as much in a motion for bail filed earlier last week, noting that 'several courts in this District have recognized that the conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center are not fit for pre-trial detention'.

However, speaking to the Mirror, the FBOP said: "As a general matter, the FBOP takes seriously our duty to protect all individuals entrusted in our custody, as well as maintain the safety of correctional employees and the community. As part of that obligation, we review safety protocols and implement corrective actions when identified as necessary in those reviews to ensure that our mission of operating safe, secure, and humane facilities is fulfilled."
