Former Man Utd wonderkid Ravel Morrison already 'embarrassing' team-mates at new club

Ravel Morrison's talent and ability has long been lauded and now, playing in Duabi, he's leaving an impact on his team-mates as he dominates training at his latest club

Ravel Morrison is "embarrassing" team-mates at his latest club, UAE third-tier side Precision FC.

The midfielder has struggled to find a home during his well-travelled career and is now on the books of a 14th different club, whom he joined this week. He was lauded when he came through the ranks at Manchester United and threatened to unlock that potential at West Ham.

Since then though he's been up and down, playing in England, Europe and now in Dubai. He's currently got several ex-Premier League players as colleagues with former Bournemouth man Harry Arter and ex-Aston Villa defender Matt Lowton also in their squad.

Joel Lynch is another man he's playing alongside at Precision. It is the second time the duo have paired up having briefly shared the same pitch during Morrison's short-lived spell at QPR. Lynch concedes that the ex-United wonderkid is already making his mark.

He told TalkSport: "I played with Ravel for a short time at Queen's Park Rangers and obviously he comes with so much expectation. He's an exceptional talent, even in the couple of days he's been here. He's been embarrassing players with all his nutmegs and all his skills.

"You don't really want to go anywhere near him on the pitch. There's pressure he's under as well to be Ravel Morrision, the way that people have talked about him in the past. We want him here, it's a great environment and he can come here and enjoy his football."

Morrison's failure to reach his potential has left some of those he knew him when he was young bemused. Rio Ferdinand was a senior pro in Manchester when a young Morrison was coming through, but admits his attitude is what held him back.

"Mentality, for me, outweighs talent," Ferdinand once told Copa90. "Look at Ravel Morrison. This guy was the best young kid that I've ever seen in my life. Better than Joe Cole was when he was a kid. Ravel Morrison, I've never seen a guy look so comfortable on a football pitch, but you can't just have one of them without the other, you've got to have everything."

Ferdinand also recalled high praise from his legendary coach. He said: “Sir Alex Ferguson, I remember, he called me and Wazza [ Wayne Rooney ] over one day and said: “look at this kid, he’s better than you, Rooney when you were a kid, he’s better than you, Rio, better than Ryan Giggs when you were kids. This is the best kid you will ever see.”
