The UEFA Champions League is back in action tonight (October 1) as Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in the second round of their European campaign. The clash will see the Gunners welcome the French champions to the Emirates Stadium as both sides aim to secure their unbeaten run.

Arsenal were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw in their opening Champions League game last month against Atalanta, while PSG secured three points with a 1-0 win over Girona. Both sides remain unbeaten so far this season in their respective domestic leagues, with Arsenal currently sitting one point behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

PSG are top of Ligue 1 after six games, with the 12-time champions level on points with Monaco. Arsenal and PSG meet in the newly revamped Champions League, which has seen the group stage system scrapped for a new league phase consisting of 36 clubs.

Each side will now play eight matches against eight different teams in the new league phase, rather than facing the same three opponents twice. The top eight sides will progress to the round of 16, while the teams placed ninth to 24th will play a two-legged knock-out phase play-off to secure their place in the last 16.

PSG look set to be without forward Ousmane Dembele for their clash with Arsenal after an alleged argument with manager Luis Enrique following their 3-1 win over Rennes, Sky Sports reported. Arsenal’s new signing Riccardo Calafiori could also miss out after the Italian picked up a suspected knee injury in Saturday’s win against Leicester.

Defender Ben White is also a doubt after sitting out the previous fixture due to a reported groin injury. Speaking to Sky during a pre-match press conference on Monday, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “Those are the two players that are in contention and we have to review today.”
