Miranda Hart has shared some details about the man she has married, revealing they swapped vows in the last 10 months.

The 51-year-old comedy star has stunned her fans by announcing she secretly tied-the-knot with a mystery man - who she has referred to as The Boy from Bristol or, slightly less glamorously, The Mould Man. It could be argued that the star has made a career out of poking fun at her love life - as her hit BBC show, titled Miranda, saw her attempting to find love with hilarious consequences.

But away from the glare of the celebrity spotlight, the star has not only found love, but a husband. Fans hoping to uncover details of the mystery man have been teased with entries in the star's new memoir, titled I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You.

Miranda has not shared much detail about her mystery husband beyond her humours pet names for him, but has gushed about his "fine features" and "salt and pepper grey hair". However, she did explain how they met and how her pet names for him evolved over the time that they have been together.

The MailOnline quotes her writing: "I met my best friend and the love of my life who brings me more silliness, laughter, joy, support, care and safety than I thought possible in a person, because I lost my house due to mould illness and he was the building surveyor on the house remediation project.

"Yes my love was Mr Mould Man/ My Mr Mould Man/ The Boy/ The Boy from Bristol/ The Boyfriend. I haven't been entirely honest with you, he's not my boyfriend, he's my husband. We got married when I was 51."

She also explained that her friends were gobsmacked by her news, writing: "Whenever I told any of my friends I had met someone, they all simply paused, confused and said how it's not a high probability with housebound illness and a global pandemic for a knight in shining armour to appear on the doorstep but he did. To de-mould me."

Miranda dropped her bombshell marriage news while appearing on the BBC's evening magazine series The One Show on Tuesday to promote her new book. She told hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott: "Someone's put a ring on it... I'm married, I got married at 51 and it's just so lovely! I'd written Gary for onscreen Miranda and it wasn't until I was 49 that I met my person.'

She continued: "It's a little undercurrent in the book, I'm not going to reveal how we met because that's a little bit of a twist. He's my best friend, we had the best fun and I'm just thrilled to be a young bride at 51."

While Miranda's on-screen persona had many ups and downs in the love stakes - with Tom Ellis playing Gary Preston in her hit comedy show - her own love life has always been closely guarded. Fans are now hoping to discover more about her mystery 'Bristol Boy' husband.
