Jurgen Klopp has taken on the role of Red Bull's Head of Soccer - and he could play a role in future Liverpool transfers.

The ex-Reds manager starts his new position on January 1st 2025, and will have oversight across the company's network of clubs that includes Red Bull Salzburg, RB Leipzig and New York Red Bulls. Klopp is taking on a 'strategic role' with the clubs and will not be involved day-to-day.

The 57-year-old instead will be focused on advancing Red Bull's philosophy. They intend for the German to 'leverage his extensive network to aid in scouting top talent and contribute to the training and development of coaches'.

Klopp's network is likely to be strongest at Anfield after spending nine years with Liverpool, and his former assistant Pep Lijnders is currently in charge of Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. The Reds already appear to have a good relationship with Red Bull - and it would be no surprise to see that relationship deepen.

The last summer transfer window already saw Stefan Bajcetic move on loan to Red Bull Salzburg, while Bobby Clark completed a permanent deal. Liverpool have also signed the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai, Naby Keita from RB Leipzig and Takumi Minamino from Salzburg.

Klopp noted that he sees his role primarily as that of a mentor to the outfit's management. The ex-Borussia Dortmund boss said: "I want to develop, improve and support the incredible football talent that we have at our disposal.

"There are many ways that we can do this front using the elite knowledge and experience that Red Bull possesses to learning from other sports and other industries. Together we can discover what is possible. I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs but ultimately, I am one part of an organisation that is unique, innovative and forward looking."

There is an emphasis from Red Bull to utilise Klopp's experience and status to improve their sides across the globe however. They intend for Klopp to have a decisive impact.

CEO Corporate Projects and Investments at Red Bull, Oliver Mintzlaff, stated: “We are very proud of this outstanding and certainly the strongest signing in Red Bull's soccer history. Jürgen Klopp is one of the greatest and most influential figures in world soccer, with extraordinary skills and charisma.

"In his role as Head of Soccer, he will be a game changer for our involvement in international soccer and its continued development. We are hoping for valuable and decisive impulses in key areas to make the clubs even better, both collectively and individually."
