Alejandro Garnacho's brother makes feelings clear on Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag

Alejandro Garnacho's brother has voiced his take on Manchester United's recent attacking struggles - with the finger of blame pointed forcefully in one direction

Alejandro Garnacho’s brother has hit out at Manchester United players and defended under pressure head coach Erik ten Hag in an astonishing social media rant.

Roberto said that Dutchman Ten Hag was not to blame for Wednesday night’s surprising 1-1 draw against Twente in the Europa League league phase at Old Trafford.

And he went on to criticise the team’s lack of goalscoring - an issue Ten Hag has recognised must be fixed - in recent games after United also drew a blank last weekend away to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, where Garnacho was among those to miss good opportunities.

United have found the net only five times in their opening five league games with three of those goals coming in the win away to Southampton.

Roberto wrote on X: "Btw you all blame Ten Hag, but 11 United players not being able to smash them at home, I don’t think that’s on Ten Hag mate.

"We literally dominated the whole game, we couldn’t score more than a goal, individual mistake makes them score, what’s he supposed to do?

"They were not even getting into our box, if we are not able to score more than a goal against Twente, it is not on him (their goal was a mistake from one of our players too).

"Same last game btw, dominated but couldn’t score a goal, somehow last week it was the wingers' fault, this one Ten Hag's.

"If last game we would have gone 2-0 at half-time and won (attackers' fault because they couldn’t score their chances) you all would say he is being perfect, same today."

But with the attacking unit so far unable to get into their groove, Ten Hag admitted after the Twente result: “We have to score more goals.

"That is the problem, the key area is to score more goals as a team. We have players across the team who have the ability to score, that is clear."

United face Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

They must also play Porto, Fenerbahce, PAOK, Bodo Glimt, Viktoria Pilzen, Rangers and Steaua Bucharest in their Europa League campaign.

The top eight sides will go through to the round of 16 in the new format, with those placed ninth to 24th facing off in a seeded play-off round.
