Bernardo Silva makes worrying Man City admission after Sporting collapse
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has revealed that the Premier League champions are reeling after suffering their third loss in a week against Sporting Lisbon
by Dan Marsh · The MirrorBernardo Silva admits Manchester City are in a "dark place" following their crushing loss to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.
City headed into Tuesday night's showdown with Sporting as big favourites but were on the wrong end of a stunning 4-1 upset as Viktor Gyokeres plundered a hat-trick to condemn the Premier League champions to a third defeat in a row.
And just to rub salt into City's wounds, the result was masterminded by Ruben Amorim, who was confirmed as Manchester United's next head coach last week.
As the dust settled in Lisbon, Silva gave an honest assessment of City's current plight - and he reckons the international break cannot come soon enough for Pep Guardiola's side.
Speaking to TNT Sports, the Portugal midfielder said: "It's disappointing because we're a bit in a dark place right now. Everything looks to be going in the wrong way.
"Even when we are playing well we don't score our chances and we concede too easily. We definitely need to look inside and check what we're not doing well. And we need to get better very quickly otherwise it will be very difficult to come back from these losses.
"It's football. It's difficult to find reasons for what is happening to us. I don't remember in seven-and-a-half seasons this team losing three games in a row. It just looks like this team is going the wrong way now."

City's bleak run started in the Carabao Cup, where they were dumped out by Tottenham. And things went from bad to worse for the champions when they gave up ground to Liverpool in the title race after falling to a shock defeat at Bournemouth last Saturday.
Silva acknowledged City are still in a decent enough position in the league but stressed the need to respond to their latest setback in the right manner against Brighton at the weekend.
He continued: "The good thing is even though we have lost these three games we are still in a good position especially in the Premier League. After losing three games we are still in the main competitions fighting for everything. But we need to better, obviously.
"Our injured players need to come back because we need them and it's just not good enough tonight."
