A Brit who was described by his family as an “incredible father” was found at the bottom of a cliff in Benidorm by a police officer, an inquest heard.

Nathan Osman, 30, was discovered by the on-duty officer one day after he had gone missing during his first trip abroad with his friends. The father of five suffered traumatic injuries to his brain after falling down a 200m cliff. The opening to Mr Osman's inquest at Pontypridd Coroners’ Court today heard the dad had been on a long weekend break with friends, and had gone out drinking with the group before separating from them.

A search of the area began and during the following day the police officer spotted Mr Osman, who was later identified by his family. Mr Osman, from Pontypridd, south Wales, likely endured a violent death as his injuries were so traumatic, the coroner said. He adjourned Mr Osman’s full inquest for further evidence, with no date set.

As Mr Osman died abroad, there might be some delay in proceedings. Senior coroner Graeme Hughes offered his condolences to Mr Osman’s family and friends, reports Wales Online.

Earlier this month Mr Osman’s family paid tribute to him. They said: "Nathan, 30, from Pontypridd, suffered a tragic accident whilst on his first ever holiday abroad with friends in Benidorm Saturday morning. Nathan worked endlessly to provide for his family but he was looking forward to his first trip abroad with friends.

"Unfortunately, whilst trying to return to his hotel, Nathan got lost resulting in him taking the wrong path that led to a fatal fall. Nathan’s family and friends are left utterly devastated and heartbroken. Nathan was the most doting partner to Katie, the mother of his four children.

"This tragic accident has left Katie and his four children to live the rest of their lives without him. Nathan's children were his absolute world and he lived and breathed for them. He was an incredible father and made so many wonderful memories that his children will cherish forever.

"Nathan was the most loyal person, a faultless son, a caring brother, a fun loving uncle and a true friend to anyone that was lucky enough to know him. His smile and his big brown eyes were infectious. He was the kindest of souls and his legacy will live on through his four beautiful children.

"Nathan enjoyed spending mornings at the beach with his children and partner. They loved exploring, being outdoors and going for hikes always having a great time and making beautiful memories. Nathan was totally devoted to his family, and as long as his family were happy, he was too.

"His Sundays were spent at Nanny Mo’s and then at his parent’s home to enjoy as many cooked dinners as he could handle. He enjoyed time at the gym with his brothers, spending time with his sister and catching up with friends. He took great pleasure in spending time with his many nieces and nephews and making them laugh. He wanted the upmost best for everyone he knew and would give help to anyone in need.

"The family really want to emphasise the importance of not walking home alone and to always stay with a friend or family member. Regardless of how you may feel in the moment, please don’t take for granted your own safety. We want Nathan to be remembered for the amazing soul he was and the beautiful legacy he has left for everyone. He will be missed forever."
