Yellowstone star Cole Hauser has shared the first details for his character Rip Wheeler’s storyline in the highly-anticipated final six episodes of season five.

Following the unexpected departure of Hollywood star Kevin Costner, the Paramount Network drama has been left in limbo following the latest episodes airing way back in 2022.

Its future finally looks secure, with six more episodes arriving in November and a number of spin-offs and sequels reportedly still in the works.

Until then, Hauser has lifted the lid on what fans can expect from Rip’s next chapter with his fierce wife Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly) and the rest of the ranch.

He reveals the next stage of the show “is about picking up the pieces… putting them back together and trying to move on.”

Rip will be running things down in Texas when Yellowstone returns

The star then added an intriguing teaser: “My storyline is totally different. Kelly’s as well.”

In the most recent season, the Duttons have continued their ongoing war with Market Equities, with newcomer Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) causing trouble by forming an alliance with Beth’s brother Jamie (Wes Bentley).

The midseason finale saw the Dutton siblings’ feud reach breaking point, with Beth hitting Jamie over the head with a rock before her brother threatens to expose years of family secrets.

However, the final scene also ended Yellowstone’s last episode before its lengthy break on a slightly more positive note as Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) mulls over his father’s proposal for him to take over the ranch.

During an interview with TVLine, Hauser added: “You’re going to see a side of Rip you haven’t seen.

“He’s running the ranch, being supportive of Beth, helping Kayce, doing all the things that John would want.

“He takes the responsibility very seriously, and I love that about this year for him.”

Will fans' favourite power couple find their way back to each other?

Rip’s “different side” could be Hauser’s way of hinting at the demise of John Dutton (Costner), which has long been speculated since the A-lister’s exit.

On the other hand, Rip’s temporary separation from Beth to run things in Texas will also provide plenty of opportunities for change.

Rip and Beth “are two souls that have a hard time being away from each other,” the star explained.

“Beth doesn’t like the idea of me being down in Texas. She pulls a pretty cool trick and finds me down in the middle of nowhere.”

Fans will have to make sure to tune in to find out when Yellowstone’s popular unconventional couple manages to have a sweeping romantic reunion.

Yellowstone season 5, part 2 premieres Sunday, November 10 on Paramount.
