Miranda Hart confirmed she secretly got married and gushed that 'someone put a ring on it'.

The 51-year-old star appeared on The One Show on Tuesday evening to discuss her new book, I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You, and shocked hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott as she revealed the exciting news. The star also writes about her mystery husband in the book.

She remained cryptic while discussing her relationship but confirmed that 'someone put a ring on it!' Miranda happily explained she found 'her person' at the age of 49 while battling chronic illness. She said: "I'm married, I got married at 51 and it's just so lovely! I'd written Gary for onscreen Miranda and it wasn't until I was 49 that I met my person.

"It's a little undercurrent in the book, I'm not going to reveal how we met because that's a little bit of a twist. He's my best friend, we had the best fun and I'm just thrilled to be a young bride at 51." There was a lot of speculation about her marital status when she was promoting her new book.

She teased fans that she 'couldn't possibly say if hthere is a love story in it... (There is - shush) Exciting.' In recent social media videos, she was also seen wearing a wedding ring. Locals near her west London home have also seen her with a mystery man.

Back in August, Miranda opened up about her secret illness that caused her to gain weight. She said she 'felt shame' about her weight change as she no longer felt like herself. The star didn't explain what illness she had been suffering from in the video shared on social media.

She revealed she spent a lot of time and effort trying to change the negative emotions she has towards her body. In the caption, she said: "I have found it incredibly hard not to feel shame from gaining weight over the last three years. Not because of striving for an aesthetic ideal but because it doesn’t represent me and who I naturally am.

"But life happens. Illness happens. And it’s a great way to keep focusing on the greatest healer - self-compassion. If I lose it or not I know I am loved. Peace out." In the video, Miranda rocked a simple t-shirt with the word 'proud' emblazoned in the middle as she held up her new book.
