Chris McCausland has been told 'it's ok' as he shared an emotional update on Strictly Come Dancing with Dianne Buswell. The pair are currently back in training after making it through to week five of the BBC One dance contest.

Over the weekend, comedian Chris and professional dance partner Dianne returned to the show's iconic ballroom where they performed a colourful and energetic Salsa to Down Under by Men At Work.

Following the performance, Dianne, who got to bring a touch of Australia to her routine with the staging of 'Kangaroo hops', gushed that she was never more proud of Chris as she fought back tears before they were awarded 30 points out of a possible 40.

It was then during Sunday night's (October 13) results show that it was confirmed Chris and Dianne were among the 12 couples to make it through to next Saturday's show, marking week five of Strictly's 2024 series.

Afterwards, Chris took to social media to share his appreciation to those who'd voted for him and Dianne to stay in the competition. He wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "I'm still on this crazy train for another week. Thank you to everybody that voted! I am delighted to get to do this again with @dbuzz6589 - I am honestly having a blast! #Strictly."

Now, Chris has been backing in rehearsals with Dianne for their next routine and the pair returned to social media together in their first video from their series - CHRIS’S DIAnneRIES - of the week.

In the clip, Dianne says: "We survived another week!" to which Chris replied: "Well why did we survive another week, Di?" She said: "Because of the lovely people who support us," as Chris interjected: "Because of the generosity of the people out there that picked up their phones, got their thumbs ready, texted, emailed, whatever it is you do... We're still here!"

Dianne then asked for them to discuss the emotional side of partaking in the show but Chris, who is Strictly's first blind contestant, appeared slightly reluctant as he fought tears, saying: "You know what I'm like today, Dianne!"

She then explained: "Chris feels very emotional today. One thing he always does is, he hugs me so tight at the end because... you tell them," before Chris continued: "I hug you so tight at the end so that I can make sure I'm not going to cry on the telly. The relief of getting through it, then for you be so ecstatic at the end and then the audience reaction, it's a lot and me little lip wobbles..."

"I gave you a hug and I held on until I knew I could speak and then the people's support is overwhelming over the weekend." He then turned to Dianne and said: "You did a great job too." She replied: "Thank you. We both did a fantastic job and you know, onwards and upwards. We have a very lovely dance this week and I'm very excited about it."

Dianne then concluded: "I'm very proud of you," before they cut the emotional talk and got back to their giggling ways with Dianne presenting Chris with a packet of chocolate Tim Tams.

But their fans and followers were keen to show their support. @nicoleandrach said: "It’s okay to cry Chris. We are all so proud of you." @carla300791 commented: "Love hearing Chris talk about the emotional side of Strictly as well as being absolutely hilarious. Come on Chris!"

@deborahconh wrote: "You’re both awesome! No lying here, I’ve cried every time you’ve danced! You are just phenomenal and so inspirational! You’re doing an incredible job, Chris and Diane!" @entwistlejudith replied: "This is the partnership no one ever knew they needed. Absolute winners in my eyes." @firework511 added: "Love you guys…. You’re my winners."
