Police tape off house after woman stabbed before man arrested in attempted murder investigation

Police taped off a house after a woman was stabbed in a horrific attack in Wigan. An attempted murder probe was launched after the incident at a house on Tintern Avenue, in Astley, in the early hours of Monday morning (October 28).

The stabbing, understood to be a 'domestic incident' was first reported at around 5.15am. Crime scene investigators (CSI) also attended the incident and sealed off a property.

The victim, a woman, whose age has not been confirmed, was rushed to hospital from the scene with serious injuries. Her condition is not described as life-threatening.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has been taken into custody to be quizzed by detectives. It is understood the suspect and victim know one another.

A police van could also be seen parked up on the driveway, which was sealed off by police tape throughout Monday amid investigations.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 5.15am this morning (28 October), officers responded to reports of a stabbing on Tintern Avenue, Wigan.

"A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries, that are thankfully not believed to be life-threatening. A man aged 25 has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody for questioning."
