Woman killed an innocent man then started her 'web of lies'
by Lee Grimsditch · Manchester Evening NewsThe family of a cyclist who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run have paid tribute to him. David Burrows was cycling to work when he was hit and critically injured
Despite being taken to hospital, David sadly later died. The driver, Anya Foster, rather than stay and help, fled the scene and was arrested later the same day.
Rather than admitting her actions, the 32-year-old spun 'a web of lies' and tried to mislead police 'at multiple stages'. She eventually admitted her actions and, on November 5, Tuesday, Foster received a sentence of six years and eight months at Liverpool Crown Court, as well as an 11-year driving ban, reports the Liverpool Echo.

"We would like to thank Merseyside Police, the Crown Prosecution Service, the nurses, and doctors at Whiston Hospital and especially those who helped David on that fateful morning. David will always be in our hearts and never be forgotten."
David, from St Helens, was on his way to work at the St Helens branch of Pilkington, a glass manufacturer, when he was struck down on Islands Brow near the Hinckley Road intersection.
Foster, from Gloucester Street, St Helens, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving while over the prescribed limit for two separate controlled substances, driving whilst unfit through drugs, failing to stop after a collision and failing to report a collision.
Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit's Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy said: "Foster's reckless and selfish driving resulted in the death of an innocent man whilst he was riding to work, completely devastating his family.

"Not only did Foster cause the crash, but rather than stop at the scene to help David and face the consequences of her actions, she chose to flee and began to weave a web of lies. Our investigation proved that Foster attempted to mislead officers at multiple stages. We have worked tirelessly to establish the full facts and Foster has now been held accountable for her actions.
"Our thoughts remain firmly with David's family and friends as they continue to deal with the devastating outcome of this heart-breaking incident every day."
