Monthly street food festival to kick off in city centre this week with bao buns, bagels and New York-style pizza

A new monthly lunchtime residency featuring a host of food traders will be kicking off in the city centre this week.

Food.Fest will be taking place at Circle Square, just off Oxford Road, on Thursday (September 26) and will continue to take place on the last Thursday of the month.

The event, which will run from 12pm to 3pm, follows the successful street food festival of the same name which took place in June and brought together four of the ‘North West's top street food traders’.

The residency will feature a rotation of different traders offering people in the city a chance to have something a little bit different for an end-of-month lunchtime treat.

This week, the residency will feature authentic Greek street food from the Malaka Brother’s - who will be serving up classics like gyros, souvlaki and halloumi fries.

Fat Frank’s, which is usually based at The Taphouse on Symphony Park, will also be taking part in this month’s event with their New York-style pizzas, which are served by the slice, including fan-favourites like the Buffalo Chicken and the Smokey Peperoni.

Triple B by Eat New York, which is based in Prestwich, will be returning to the city centre this week with their bagels, burgers and beers. At Food.Fest, they will be serving the likes of their classic New York-style Reuben bagel, as well as a loaded pastrami burger.

If that’s not enough, Circle Square resident Little Bao Boy will also be getting in on the action with a selection of Asian street food as well as their signature bao buns - including the pulled teriyaki mushroom bao and the char sui pulled pork bao.

Speaking about the event, a spokesperson for Food.Fest said: “Food.Fest has quickly become a neighbourhood event, attracting food lovers from around Oxford Road to amplify their lunch hour thanks to the incredible array of food on offer.

“The feedback we've had from the vendors taking part and the people attending has shown there's real appetite to make it a monthly event, so we're delighted that from Thursday 26th, it will be just that. So grab your colleagues and come on down for some great food.”
