Coldplay fans hit out at 'stupid' ticketing system after 'shambles'

by · Manchester Evening News

Coldplay fans have blasted huge queues and an 'unfair' ticketing system as seats for the band's latest tour went on sale.

The much-loved British chart-toppers recently announced they would be stopping at two UK venues on their 2025 tour - Hull and London. This morning (September 26), a limited number of presale tickets for the August shows went on sale via Ticketmaster.

A general sale will also take place tomorrow morning (September 27). But fans were left fuming after many reported being 'kicked out' the virtual queue, while others complained of more expensive ticket prices at the end.

One fan, who said she had been kicked out the queue, tweeted: "thank you @TicketmasterUK for kicking me out of the queue, what a stupid system you have!" Pictures showed she had gone from position 27,915 to 10,7183.

"@TicketmasterUK only word is #omnishambles," another wrote."Been in the pre-sale Q for @coldplay tickets since 9am this morning (with 136k in front of me - how?!). Only just got to the front of the queue after 5 hours, to be told to join the main sale tomorrow! Time to get rid of your #monopoly."

Tim tweeted: "A complete joke, I joined at 9am and look how many people in front of me, and I've just been thrown out after 5 hours of queuing."

Others complained of being referred to another day after being kicked out of the queue for their original day of choice. Michelle Kaldin wrote: "@TicketmasterUKa joke. Waste of time and money of all those 10s of 1000 on the queues only to keep being kicked out and referred to another day. Shame #musicindustry has been reduced to #Ticketmaster @coldplay."

Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour is scheduled to end in the UK on August 31, at Wembley Stadium in London. The stage show has been ongoing since 2022 and has toured countries including the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia.

The controversy over ticketing and prices comes just weeks after fans hit out at the ticketing website Ticketmaster for their 'dynamic pricing' system during the hugely in-demand Oasis reunion gigs.

The M.E.N has contacted Ticketmaster about this issue.
