Police hunt e-bike rider who hurled brick at police car before crashing into boy, 3

Police are hunting an e-bike rider who hurled a brick at a police car before crashing into a three-year-old boy.

The youngster suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital after the crash in Taurus Street, Oldham, shortly after 6.25pm yesterday (Tuesday).

Police say the man riding the bike had thrown a brick at a police car in nearby Ripponden Road just minutes earlier. He then rode off on a Surron electric bike.

Shortly after, he crashed into the boy, who was thrown into the air before colliding with a parked vehicle. The man on the bike fled, leaving the child with a head injury.

The child was taken to hospital but is now recovering at home, Greater Manchester Police said. The force has today released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Officers are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed it to come forward. Anyone with CCTV, dash cam or Ring doorbell footage is urged to contact police on 0161 856 8809, quoting the incident number 2674 of 08/10/2024.
