Tragedy as 'homeless' man found outside Palace Theatre dies

A man rushed to hospital after being found unresponsive in Manchester city centre has tragically died. It happened early this morning (Tuesday, November 12).

Emergency services were called to Whitworth Street at around 6.30am after the man was seen outside the Palace Theatre on nearby Oxford Road. He was taken to hospital where lifesaving efforts continued, but he sadly later died.

The man is understood to have been homeless. He has not yet been named and no further details have been released.

A cordon was in place as a police investigation got underway. The area outside the theatre was taped off, with officers standing guard.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: "At around 6.40am this morning, we received a call regarding the concern for the welfare of a male on Whitworth Street, Manchester.

Emergency crews attended but sadly, despite their best efforts, a man later died in hospital." Enquiries are ongoing."
