Wynne Evans has opened up about his concerns ahead of his latest appearance on Strictly Come Dancing. The Welsh opera singer, presenter and actor, 52, is preparing to take on Icons Week with his partner Katya Jones after surviving week 6 of the BBC dance contest.

Wynne and Katya were awarded a score of 31 from the judges on Saturday (October 26) for their Salsa to Canned Heat by Jamiroquai during Halloween week. This coming weekend, the pair are set to perform the Rumba to Dame Shirley Bassey's powerful 'This is My Life'.

But speaking on It Takes Two about his upcoming performance, Wynne revealed: "Rumba I'm enjoying but I don't know if I'm doing it right. I've got concerns about the hips. The hips, the hips, the hips."

Offering support, Katya encouraged him by saying: "The hips are getting looser. Wynne's got beautifully shaped long legs so if we can put the legs with the hips, it'll be perfection. Can we get there by Saturday, who knows?."

As the pair brace themselves for the challenging rumba, Wynne expressed his worries during an Instagram Q&A with fans, saying: "I don't know. I don't look at what's coming up. I just have to focus on getting through this week. I'm now the oldest and the fattest, so the fact I've made it this far is incredible."

He also humorously mentioned discovering his hips, adding: "There's a lot of hips in the rumba, I may have actually discovered where my hips are."

Previously, Wynne admitted being "heartbroken" by how the public responded to their 'inside joke' which was exchanged during the show, reports the Express.

Following a misinterpretation with dance partner Katya Jones, viewers believed he had made her feel uncomfortable - a notion she has since refuted. .

Wynne expressed: "I'm absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day. It's not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we're really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke,".

"It was a stupid joke that went wrong, okay? We thought it was funny. It wasn't funny. It has been totally misinterpreted. Everything's on Katya's socials. She's talked about it. She's explained that it was a joke."

"She wasn't offended in the least. She doesn't feel uncomfortable. We've got a brilliant friendship, an absolutely tight friendship, and I'm sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was a joke. And that's all there is. There is no real story, really. I feel weird apologising because I feel like I've not really done anything."
