Boden's £37 top shoppers say is 'ultra luxurious' for Christmas party season slashed from £50 in pre-Black Friday sale

Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons and that's partly because it's the only time you can wear velvet. The fabric, whether it's in a top, dress or trouser form, always feels ultra luxurious and looks expensive - even when it's not.

That's exactly the case with Boden's Notch Neck Frill Velvet Top. It's been crafted from a sumptuously soft fabric with delicate frills that effortlessly takes it from day to night.

Boden's velvet top has almost nothing but glowing reviews from shoppers online. Giving it a perfect five-stars, one customer said: "Lovely top, fits well. Looks as pictured. Very happy with this purchase."

A second wrote: "Lovely quality top for my upcoming Christmas get togethers. It's quite short in the body which suits me as I'm only 5ft 2.ins. Fits lovely on the shoulders and across the chest. I ordered a 12, it's a good fit and slightly stretchy material."

A third penned: "Bought the purple and the green colour - lovely rich and bright jewel colours. Ideal for winter and party season. Will wear for Friday night family dinners and for Christmas events. Will also wear on Christmas Day. Good value price wise.

"The length is also good - low hip - I have found recently that a lot of Boden tops have been too short for me (only 5'4" but very long body and short legs) and finish around the tummy region which is unflattering on me. Looking forward to wearing this item over the coming months."

Somebody else, however, did not like the Notch Neck Frill Velvet Top because it's 'too short in the body', giving it a two-star review. They said: "At 5ft10 this was just too short in body which seems to be a Boden thing these days. Please, please go back to making longer length tops, I would happily pay more for better/ longer fit. It was also small of size that I ordered so sadly returned."
