Man, 52, charged with murder after 24-year-old woman's body found

A man has been charged with murder after a 24-year-old woman's body has been found.

Emergency services rushed to reports of a concerns for the welfare of a woman at a property in Oxford Road, Atherton, at around 11.40am on Wednesday, October 9. An air ambulance was sent to the incident in Atherton, as well as road ambulances.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead shortly after. A 52-year-old man, named Nadeem Muhammed Begum, has now been charged with murder, the force has said this afternoon (October 23).

At first, the police said there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances around the death. But enquiries continued and the case was referred for a Home Office post-mortem.

The police say the results upgraded the case to suspicious death investigation, GMP has said. The 24-year-old’s next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Nadeem Muhammed Begum, of Oxford Road in Atherton, has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Bolton Crown Court on November 14.
