Pensioner left with 'serious' injuries after horror collision

Police have issued an urgent appeal for information after an 80-year-old man was hit by a car in Bury on Tuesday evening.

Emergency services were called to Higher Lane, Whitefield, at around 5:30pm on November 5 following a collision between a car and a pedestrian. Police believe a grey Nissan Qashqai collided with the man, who suffered serious injuries as a result.

They are now appealing to members of the public for more information following the incident near Dales Lane and Ringley Road.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Police appeal for information after a collision on Higher Lane in Whitefield last night.

"At 5:30pm on Tuesday 5 November, police were called to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Higher Lane, Whitefield, near to the junction with Dales Lane and Ringley Road.

"It’s believed that a grey Nissan Qashqai collided with an 80-year-old man, who suffered serious injuries.

"Police are asking for witnesses and anyone who may have information regarding the incident, to please get in touch. This includes anyone with relevant dashcam, CCTV, mobile, or doorbell footage from the area and captures any of the incident.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact police via 101 or 0161 856 4741 quoting log 2532 of 5/11/24. Alternatively, the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
