BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans says 'stop' as they make complaint seconds into first live show

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left begging for bosses to 'get on with it' as they called for an end to the opening segments. The hit BBC One dance contest officially aired live for the first time on Saturday night (September 21).

The first episode of the new series actually aired last Saturday night (September 14) and saw epic performances from the show's talented group of professional dancers but all eyes were on finding out which celebrity had been paired with which pro.

However, it was this weekend that the competition really got underway as all 15 of the new Strictly couples perform together for the first time.

However, as 7pm hit, Strictly fans were instantly ready for all the dancing action, but they were instead treated to an opening montage that saw famous faces around different parts of the Elstree Studios.

Viewers witnessed a shirtless Nick Knowles getting a spray tan as well as an epic hair flip from Pete Wicks. But there was also plenty of smiling faces on show and introductory dance moves being thrown.

But Strictly fans just wanted to get on with the first live show. @xDiamond_Girlx said: "#strictly I wish they would stop filling the time with [stuff] we don’t need to see all this. @MichelleMurph82 shared: "#strictly that intro was weird." However, @RyanTheSoapking shared: "OBSESSED with the Kylie opener tonight especially following the news of Kylie's new album & tour. #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing." @MintySilver added: "The opening credits going for a comedy feel this year, I love it! #Strictly."

The full list of celebrities taking part this year includes Olympic medalist and TV presenter Sam Quek, former footballer Paul Merson, TV presenter Nick Knowles, Gladiator Montell Douglas, Olympic swimmer Tom Dean, Eastenders actor Jamie Borthwick, Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and singer and actor Shayne Ward.

Also making up the line-up are TV personality and podcast host Pete Wicks, model and Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, BBC Morning Live's Dr Punam Krishan, singer Toyah Willcox, opera singer Wynne Evans, JLS star JB Gill, and comedian Chris McCausland.
