Girl, 17, dies after being struck by car on M5 motorway

Emergency services were called to the motorway between junction 24 for Bridgwater and junction 25 for Taunton at around 11pm last night (Monday, November 11). The teenager, a pedestrian, tragically died on the scene, Avon and Somerset Police said.
Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a specially-trained officer. No-one else was injured in the incident.

A mandatory referral has also been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to prior police contact. Police said the stretch of motorway will remain shut 'for some time' as investigations continue.
