Coronation Street's Steve McDonald star delights co-stars in 'baby girl' update

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has delighted his co-stars as he shared some news about his 'baby girl' away from the cobbles. The actor is famed for playing Steve McDonald in the ITV soap having held the role for three decades.

But some may not know that Simon will often be found in Wilmslow in Cheshire when not in the fictional Weatherfield where his wife Emma runs a tearoom.

Morley Tearooms, which is part of the Morley Nurseries and garden centre site, is located on the edge of Wilmslow in Cheshire and serves up Emma's home-baked cakes as well as breakfasts and classic lunch items.

Emma, who once starred in Hollyoaks, previously shared with the Manchester Evening News how she gets up at the crack of dawn every morning to bake an array of traditional cakes for the café, before heading to set up and serve up an array of hot and cold dishes and teas and coffees at the tearooms itself.

Simon can also be found helping out too, much to the delight of visitors and even his Corrie pals, who pop in for Emma's baked treats, the most recent being Claire Sweeney

After enjoying her visit in September, Claire, who is playing Cassie Plummer in the long-running show, shared a snap of herself, Simon and Emma and gushed: "Lovely to mee your gorgeous wife @fat_dracula @emmagleavage your tea room is beautiful. Best food and cake @tearoomswilmslow.".

Now, Simon has taken to the social media to share his pride as he revealed that Emma's cafe has picked up another award. The soap star shared a snap of his wife on Instagram and said: "So so super proud of my baby girl 5star hygiene rating and the good food award two years running all the hard work every day 7 days a week she truly deserves it."

He then added in the comments section: "And a tripadvisor travelers choice award." Simon's Corrie co-stars took to the comments to praise Emma's cafe after the update. Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby in the ITV soap said: "The sweetest tea rooms in town and the food is [tongue out emoji and red heart emoji]. Congrats Emma."

Lisa George, who recently left the show after 13 years of playing Beth Tinker replied: "So beautiful and congratulations @emmagleavage. You have worked your socks off and I’m so proud of you xxx."

Simon's also since shared a second post in which he posted a smiling selfie of himself and Emma and said: "As well as a five star food hygiene rating and a good food award my baby’s also been awarded trip advisors travelers choice award and it’s hugely deserved." Abi Webster co-star Sally Carman-Duttine replied: "That’s pretty awesome." Claire also commented: "So well deserved."
