Joanna Page, star of Gavin and Stacey, has confessed to having "tears streaming" down her face after filming the final scenes for the upcoming finale.

The cast, including Joanna as Stacey, Ruth as Nessa, James as Smithy, and Matthew Horne reprising his role as Gavin, reunited on Barry Island for one last episode following on from the 2019 Christmas special.

Giving an insight into their final days together, the 47-year-old actress admitted it was hard to hold back the tears.

She revealed: "Oh My God, the last ever time on Trinity Street, I was crying again. And the last ever, ever, time in Stacey's house that she grew up in. In Stacey's house, Gwen's house, the last ever ever time.

"Throughout the day, we were walking around and they said we could take a little memento type thing. So, I was thinking OK, what am I going to steal? And they said, 'You don't need to steal, just tell us what it is that you want'."

Joanna also reflected on how being back on set brought back many memories from her time playing Stacey, including when she taught Nessa how to walk down the aisle.

"When we went in there to film on the last day, all I could think about was all the different scenes we had been doing there," she shared. "It's amazing, it brings back so many memories!"

She continued on the Off The Telly podcast, alongside Natalie Cassidy: "It brought back so many memories, so when we finished filming about 7ish, it must've been.

"We all came out and all of us together walked all the way up to the crowd at the end, who had been so wonderful, and had been there supporting us all day.

"I mean, the people who live on Trinity Street have just been absolutely wonderful and so supportive and just part of the show.

"As I was walking up [to them] Oh My God, tears were just streaming, just falling over the outside of my eyes , falling down, I had no control over it."

She added: "I just remember looking at them and the sun was setting and we said, 'Goodbye' and I remember turning around to walk to the car and looking back and thinking, 'Wow, I'll never experience this again'."

Gavin and Stacey: The Finale will reportedly air on Christmas Day on BBC One.
