Comedy star Miranda Hart has surprised fans by revealing she secretly got married in the past 10 months. The 51 year old, known for her self-titled BBC show, has kept her husband's identity under wraps, referring to him as 'The Boy from Bristol' or 'The Mould Man'.

Despite making a career out of humouring her love life on screen, Miranda has found real-life romance away from the public eye. In her new memoir, 'I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You', she teases readers with snippets about her mystery man, praising his "fine features" and "salt and pepper grey hair".

She also shares how they met - during a house remediation project after she lost her home due to mould illness. As quoted by MailOnline, she writes: "I met my best friend and the love of my life who brings me more silliness, laughter, joy, support, care and safety than I thought possible in a person, because I lost my house due to mould illness and he was the building surveyor on the house remediation project."

"Yes my love was Mr Mould Man/ My Mr Mould Man/ The Boy/ The Boy from Bristol/ The Boyfriend. I haven't been entirely honest with you, he's not my boyfriend, he's my husband. We got married when I was 51."

She also shared her friends' reactions to her news, writing: "Whenever I told any of my friends I had met someone, they all simply paused, confused and said how it's not a high probability with housebound illness and a global pandemic for a knight in shining armour to appear on the doorstep but he did. To de-mould me.", reports the Mirror.

Miranda revealed her surprise marriage news while appearing on the BBC's evening magazine series The One Show on Tuesday to promote her new book. She informed hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott: "Someone's put a ring on it... I'm married, I got married at 51 and it's just so lovely! I'd written Gary for onscreen Miranda and it wasn't until I was 49 that I met my person.'" She added: "It's a little undercurrent in the book, I'm not going to reveal how we met because that's a little bit of a twist. He's my best friend, we had the best fun and I'm just thrilled to be a young bride at 51."

While Miranda's on-screen character experienced many ups and downs in love - with Tom Ellis playing Gary Preston in her hit comedy show - her own love life has always been kept private.
