Mike Tyson explains why he pulled out of Jake Paul fight and how he changed diet ahead of clash

Mike Tyson has disclosed that his diet was the reason for his withdrawal from the original date with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. The 58-year-old boxing legend was set to face 'The Problem Child' in July, but had to withdraw due to an ulcer flare-up.

He was advised by his doctor to halt training, but he's now back in the gym and assures he'll be ready to take on the 27-year-old next month. The much-debated match between the two is set for November 15 at the ATandT Arena in Arlington, Texas, where up to 90,000 fans are expected.

The fight will be considered a professional bout in the heavyweight division. Since the fight was rescheduled, many in the boxing world have criticised the decision to proceed and expressed concern for Tyson's health.

In a recent interview with Mail Online, 'Iron Mike' announced he is now 'ulcer-free', attributing his previous health issues to his diet. "I was doing too much bad food and stuff, and I got sick,'' he admitted. However, Tyson now says he's avoiding 'processed foods' and 'eating clean' in preparation for his bout with the young American.

Meanwhile, Tyson Fury shared his views on how the upcoming fight might impact his legacy, but he seems to dismiss concerns about what critics say and the potential effects on his legendary status. "I didn't take this fight for legacy," he declared. "I think legacy really, to my perspective, legacy is ego.

"Who gives a f*** how people think about them when they are gone? I'm dead. I can't value off what somebody might think about me when I'm dead, so it means nothing to me."

Now 'ulcer-free' and committed to a clean diet, Tyson appears ready for his bout with the internet star. However, fans are sceptical, doubting Tyson's seriousness about the match with Paul. In a conversation with Jimmy Kimmel, the 58-year-old boxer revealed his rigorous training schedule: "I am training extremely hard, I do six hours a day. I start at 11am and might leave the gym at 5pm," Tyson explained. Kimmel, taken aback, questioned: "Oh no. 11am? So that's six hours straight, or is there a lunch break?"

Tyson acknowledged there was a brief intermission, prompting a surprised reaction from Kimmel: "Oh no. " Additionally, when asked by Kimmel if he plans to be high during the fight with Paul, Tyson responded: "I'm going to be so high off life, yeah." Kimmel probed further: "Will you be high on marijuana, as well?" To which Tyson admitted: "That's a possibility, too."

The host then remarked, somewhat concerned: "Oh no my bet is getting lower as we talk."

Tyson hasn't stepped into the ring for a professional fight in almost twenty years. His last bout was against Kevin McBride in 2005, where he suffered a defeat in the fifth round.

On the other hand, Paul, the boxing sensation, made his debut in 2020 and has been regularly seen in the ring since then. With an impressive record of 10-1, the American's only loss was to Tommy Fury last year. 'The Problem Child' is set to face 'Iron Mike' following a victory over ex-UFC fighter Mike Perry in July.
