BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans concerned for Wynne Evans amid 'disappearance' from live show

Strictly Come Dancing fans have expressed concern for Wynne Evans amid his latest appearance - or apparent 'disappearance' from the latest live show.

During week five of the BBC One dance contest on Saturday night (October 9), the opera singer and his professional dance partner Katya Jones performed a "beautiful" and bouncy quickstep as they returned following an ongoing "inside joke" row.

They did small jumps as they performed to the upbeat Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra after the pair apologised for a “silly joke” that saw Katya move Wynne's hand from her waist last week while she also refused to give him a high-five.

The Welsh opera singer, known for the GoCompare advertisements, revealed in his pre-recorded segment of the programme that he and Jones travelled to his home nation’s countryside this week.

After they danced on the live Saturday competition, judge Anton Du Beke said “it’s a lovely show, when you dance”, while Motsi Mabuse called it “exquisite”, and head judge Shirley Ballas added it was “joyous, you moved beautifully”.

They were awarded 33 points, with Craig Revel Horwood providing criticism, saying the performance was “dishevelled in places”. After Craig's remark, Wynne joked he would be reviewing the judge’s album, Revelations – Songs Boys Don’t Sing, which was released during the week, leading to the usually harsh judge changing his tone.

But while Wynne, 52, was shown walking down the stairs with his partner at the start of the live show as expected, and later was seen on the dancefloor with Katya, some noticed his appearances in the 'Claudatorium', where the celebrities and professional dancers wait between performances, were few and far between.

One asked: ""Have we seen much of Wynne in the Clauditorium this evening? Don't remember seeing him at all." Another quipped: "Production manager 'Keep Katya and Wynne out of all back round shots I repeat keep Katya and Wynne out of all back round shots'."

Others, however, were concerned for the star. One said: "Wynne is a shell of his former self #Strictly." Another said: "Wynne could do a perfect routine and people would still find room to hate on him. It was a great performance, given what has happened this week, be kind." A third added: "He didn't look as happy as usual."
