A highways worker was left with serious face injuries after being hit by a traffic cone on the M6 on Friday night (October 18). Traffic management crews were in attendance closing two lanes on the motorway between junctions 18 and 19 at around 9.30pm.

As one of the workers was closing the lanes, a car, thought to be a white 2012 Mercedes, was crashed into one of the cones being placed into the carriageway.

The traffic cone then hit the victim, leaving them with serious facial injuries. The driver of the car fled from the scene after failing to stop.
