A police helicopter was scrambled to follow masked motorbike thugs after teenagers were robbed in Handforth on Sunday (October 13).

The victim, a teenager, had travelled on his e-bike from Meriton Road Park when he was approached by three suspects near to the junction with Wilmslow Road at around 5pm.

The victim ran towards his three friends who were still in the park before the suspects, who were believed to be armed, approached the group and stole two e-bikes, a coat, and a hat. They then left the scene.

Flight paths show how the National Police Air Service had been called, with the helicopter seen circling the area amid police investigations into the incident to trace the offenders.

The suspects are believed to be between 17 and 18 years old, males, and were dressed all in black including gloves and balaclavas.

Cheshire Police confirmed on Thursday (October 17) that no arrests had been made in connection with the incident and that investigations are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Joyce said: “We understand this incident is very concerning for members of the public, however we would like to reassure people that we are doing all we can to trace those responsible.

“As part of enquiries into this incident, we would like anyone who witnessed what happened, or saw anything before or after the incident which could aid our investigation to get in touch.
