Network Rail issues statement after cyber attack disrupts public wifi at major UK rail stations

by · Manchester Evening News

Network Rail has issued a statement after a cyber attack has disrupted public wifi at some of the largest railway stations in the UK. Manchester Piccadilly, Birmingham New Street and 11 London stations were all impacted by the attack on Wednesday. It resulted in passengers attempting to connect seeing messages about terror attacks in Europe, according to reports.

The wifi webpage post-hack displayed the message "We love you, Europe" and contained information about terror attacks. Wifi services at stations have now been halted nationwide following what National Rail termed a "cyber security incident".
