'I bought Adidas Gazelles on ASOS – but couldn't believe it when I saw the price'

A thrifty ASOS customer has left many in awe after snagging a pair of sought-after Adidas trainers for a mere £1.50.

Amid the ongoing cost of living crisis, any discount or financial windfall can significantly boost one's mood. This was indeed the case for the shopper who managed to secure a pair of original Adidas Gazelle trainers for less than the cost of a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.

The fortunate shoe enthusiast snagged the bargain on ASOS, which offers a diverse range of clothing, shoes, accessories, makeup, skincare, and more from various brands, as well as its own in-house labels, much to the delight of fashion enthusiasts.

The shopper shared her triumph on the popular Facebook page, Extreme Couponing and Bargains, dubbing it her "bargain of the year" and confirming the trainers had been delivered safely. Stunned social media users flocked to the comments to express their astonishment, with one user inquiring, "How did you manage to get them for that price?" Another shopper replied, "they don't have to honour it. That's why a lot of orders get cancelled".

Online shopping can be tricky when it comes to incorrect prices being listed, and according to the Citizens' Advice Bureau, one's legal rights depend on whether or not a "contract" exists with the retailer. According to the bureau's website, your legal rights and contract with a company kick in either once you've paid for an item or once it's been dispatched to you, depending on the firm's terms and conditions.

It's crucial to check "the company's terms and conditions to find out where you stand". The CBA suggests that if a contract exists, "the company can't usually cancel your order, even if they realise they've sold you something at the wrong price".

In fact, a business is should "only be able to cancel it if it was a genuine and honest mistake on their part that you should've noticed".

If it turns out there's no contract and a pricing error is identified, then the company has the right to cancel your order. For the ASOS customer who received her new trainers, it seems the retailer stuck to the advertised price of £1.50.

The deal sparked reactions from other shoppers on Facebook. One person exclaimed: "Bargain you got there [thumbs up emoji]", while another, finding the item out of stock, lamented: "All out of stock now for anyone hoping and only £1.50 on size 4.5."

Another commenter noted: "Of course they will be out of stock. Once put on here, others will buy them whether they want them or not and whether they're a size 4.5 or not which will make them oos [out of stock]."

One disappointed Adidas fan expressed: "I'm a 4.5 gutted I missed this [sobbing with tears emoji]", while another praised: "Bl***y brill well done hun!" Another shopper echoed the sentiment, saying: "Wow that's brilliant [thumbs up emoji]". One customer commented: "Well done. And great idea to post after receiving them. Otherwise would have probs been cancelled with the 1000s of orders [crying laughing emoji]".

Another warned: "Just tried for us but back up to normal price", and another added: "4.5 and size 8 were £1.50 but all out of stock now".
