Rochelle Humes was 'in a bad way' and recalls feeling 'violently sick' in BBC Strictly Come Dancing update

by · Manchester Evening News

Rochelle Humes has told how she was "in a bad way" after her Strictly Come Dancing stint. The This Morning star's close friend JB Gill - who is in JLS with her husband Marvin Humes - is taking part in the BBC One dance show this year.

She was recently seen in the ballroom as she cheered JB and his dance partner Amy Dowden on alongside Marvin, his JLS bandmate Aston Merrygold and Aston's wife Sarah.

But Rochelle has now said she would "never" join the main show after struggling with the Christmas special in 2013, three years after taking part in the Children in Need Strictly special.

She told Closer magazine: "I basically got dragged around the dance floor by the lovely Ian Waite, and I was the most nervous I could be."

She went on: "I was in a bad way, I don't know how anybody does that, week in, week out. I could never... and the respect that I have for the people that do 'Strictly', it's just beyond!"

She also recalled in a separate interview with The Sun: "There's not much that makes me nervous," she says. "But I felt like I was going to throw up. I literally called Marv from the dressing room like, 'Do you think they'll hate me, our friends at the BBC, if I say that I don't feel well?'

"I love the show, I've grown up with it in the house and I'm a big fan, so to be there and really not be very good, it's not natural to me. I just felt like I was going to be violently sick."

And there's also another show you won't ever see her taking part in. The former The Saturdays singer has been asked to take part in I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here numerous times but she insists it’s not for her after seeing Marvin go through the experience last year.

"I'm sure it would be good telly to see me crumble, but I did it the best way," she told The Sun. "I’ve been to Australia, I got to stay in a nice hotel, I've experienced the camp, I know what it looks like.

"It's so much smaller than you think, and they sleep, sit and do everything there. I would be out of my mind there. I can't be there. It's just too real for me.”

Rochelle - who has kids Alaia, 11, Valentine, seven, and Blake, four, with Marvin - is still keeping busy, and the couple have worked on shows like The Hit List together with series seven airing earlier this year.

The 35-year-old explained that they both make sure to keep a healthy balance betwene their work and home life. She added to Closer: "We try to set boundaries, and we make sure that we don't talk shop at home once we're all done for the day."

"We let that roll into tomorrow. I think it's important to protect it. If it all rolls into one, then we'll be up working on something all the time. At least by five o'clock, by the time kids are having dinner, we'll make sure that work questions are done."
