Jake Paul's next move after Mike Tyson fight emerges with career change

Jake Paul is set to discuss his MMA debut following his upcoming fight with Mike Tyson. The YouTuber will face off against the heavyweight boxing legend in Texas next month, in a delayed and contentious eight-round match.

Paul, who has a record of 10-1 in the ring, with his only loss being to Tommy Fury last year, will have a 30-year age advantage over Tyson when they meet on November 15. However, Paul also has plans to conquer the cage after signing with leading promotion PFL in 2022.

He could make his debut next year as he takes a break from his ambitious plan to become a boxing world champion. "I'm not sure if it's going to be his very next fight in combat sports but he will debut in 2025," PFL CEO Peter Murray told Mirror Fighting ahead of Francis Ngannou's return to MMA against Renan Ferreira.

"Look what Jake has proved in boxing; he's an incredible athlete, he's a pro boxer and he's taken on some legit opponents and he has blazed his own trail. He's going to do it the same way in MMA; he's all about being an advocate for athletes and blazing new trails so he's absolutely going to take on MMA and be as focused and dedicated as he is to boxing."

Paul has been vocal about seeking vengeance on Fury since he was bested by him in their bout in Saudi Arabia. The possibility of a rematch now looms potentially in the world of mixed martial arts, as Fury was seen training with UFC's Tom Aspinall recently, reports the Mirror.

Murray chimed in on the prospect: "I believe [they could fight in PFL]; we'll see, there's a list and it keeps growing, that's what's exciting about it. There are a number of fighters who would like to be part of that debut so we will be talking to Jake after the Tyson fight."

Several figures from the world of MMA, including the renowned Nate Diaz—who Paul outpointed in their boxing confrontation last year—are rumoured to be potential opponents for Paul in an MMA setting. Diaz, however, seems to have dismissed a $10 million (£7.7m) proposal and is rumoured to be considering a return to his previous promotional sphere.

Paul might also find himself in a third clash with Tyron Woodley, whom he has twice defeated inside the boxing ring. Additionally, Paul has an ongoing rivalry with Jorge Masvidal, yet another fighter taking a respite from UFC action.

Before any of these matchups can materialise, Paul is slated to face Tyson, whose last professional fight concluded with his retirement mid-fight against Kevin McBride in 2005. Tyson did step back into the squared circle for an exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr in 2020, which culminated in a lacklustre draw after eight rounds.
