Second suspect named after alleged kidnap of man, 87, in Oldham

A second man has been charged in connection with an alleged kidnap in Oldham.

A man, aged 87, was allegedly 'forced into a car and attacked' before being 'thrown out onto a road' in West Yorkshire. Greater Manchester Police launched an investigation, led by the Major Incident Team.

Azizur Rahman, 39, has now been charged in connection with the incident. Rahman, of Oldham, has been charged with; kidnap, robbery, section 18 assault, intentional strangulation, threaten a person with a bladed article, pervert the course of justice and making threats to kill.

He has been remanded into custody. He is due to appear at Tameside Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday, October 2).

Shohad Miah, of Firbank Road in Royton, has already been charged by police with kidnap, grievous bodily harm, robbery and intentional strangulation. He was remanded into custody.

Another man who was arrested previously has since been bailed. A spokesperson for GMP said: "Officers are appealing to the public for information to support their investigations into this shocking incident.
