BBC Strictly Come Dancing viewers say 'it took me a while' as pro dancer looks unrecognisable in group performance

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have been left bewildered after a pro dancer looked unrecognisable during this week's professional group dance routine.

In tonight's results show (October 27), the professionals took to the ballroom in a Beetlejuice-themed performance as part of this week's Halloween spooktacular ahead of October 31.

Carlos Gu, who was praised for his hilarious Claudia Winkleman costume on yesterday's (October 26) main show, donned the iconic pinstriped suite and messy green hair that Michael Keaton sported in the 1988 film - with the matching horrifying makeup to boot.

Fans rushed to social media to share their thoughts on Carlos and the routine. On X, previously known as Twitter, one enthusiast remarked: "It’s taken me this long to figure out it’s Carlos playing Beetlejuice."

Another chimed in: "Oh my gosh, can someone please give the costume designers on @bbcstrictly a bonus. Absolutely superb."

A third user mentioned: "Blimey, took me a while, but Beetlejuice is Carlos." And somebody else wrote: "Carlos was fab, but the costumes were better than the group dance imo."

And it seemed other viewers loved Carlos' performance, as one person said: "Halloween has definitely, been Carlos's night, and I'm here for it ! Give him a partner next year, please!"

And another posted: "Really missed Carlos and Lauren this series hope we see them back with partners next year."

The group performance came before Morning Live star Dr Punam Krishan became the fifth star to be voted off the BBC One dance contest this year. Punam and her professional dance partner Gorka Marquez faced a tricky night in the ballroom as Halloween week took place on Saturday night.

They came joint bottom of the scoreboard alongside Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell after their tango to Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics which saw them dressed as pirates.

Strictly Come Dancing will be back on at 6.30pm on November 2 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
